About us

Hi there, nice to meet you!

Hluhluwe Bush Camp is owned by Peter de Wit and Trienke Lodewijk, 2 “Dutchies” who moved to South Africa 20 years ago. After living in different places all around Africa, they decided to settle down in Hluhluwe. Peter and Trienke are the co-owners of Nuarro Lodge in the north of Mozambique. They started building this Eco-lodge in 2007 with local Mozambicans and officially opened up in 2009. They were the operational managers of the lodge until 2011. From a distance, they are both still very involved with the lodge.

Because of Peter’s technical background, he designed a special hybrid system which allows Nuarro to run purely on solar energy. Peter is still responsible for all the technical installations and Trienke is still doing the marketing and sales of the lodge.

Besides the lodge in Mozambique, Peter is now CEO and owner of NuRa Energy nura-energy.co.za. This company specializes in electrical solar engineering and operates in South Africa, Mozambique and Uganda.

Trienke is nowadays very busy with the marketing of Hluhluwe Bush Camp. Besides being the owner of the camp, she is also busy with BBorange – a tour operator which creates tailor-made holidays in Southern Africa. If she’s not busy enough already, she is also the only sales agent for Luxetenten Glamping Tents in the whole of Africa. Interested in the tents? Have a look at yalacanvaslodges.com

Of course, Trienke has a magical team gathered around her to run Hluhluwe Bush Camp!
